Summary
This person will assist with loading and unloading equipment. The position also consists of maintaining the appearance of the yard/branch, assisting mechanics, drivers or other personnel with various labor-based tasks and completing other daily assignments that support the branch operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Operates forklift; Load, unload, move, stock, heavy equipment and product primarily by using a forklift or other means.
Stage heavy equipment for Production and Service Departments.
Verify load accuracy; check the load count, stability, and product damage, report variances to supervisor.
Quickly and safely evaluate and identify the needed materials, tooling, and steps necessary to finish the needed task.
Inspect parts, equipment or vehicles for cleanliness, damage and compliance with standards.
Load and unload equipment and vehicles plus check for any damage.
Responsible for the maintenance of the building, yard, and equipment.
Monitor inventory in yard and oversee incoming/outgoing vehicles.
Perform all duties in accordance with best practices for a safe work environment.
Must work with and for all departments in harmony.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications
High school diploma or the equivalent
Must have 1+ year forklift driving experience.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines and schedules.
Setting priorities and adapting to changing work priorities.
Mechanical aptitude and/or knowledge of utility and/or vocation vehicles and familiarity with operating systems including but not limited to, booms, buckets, diggers, cable reels, hi-rail, Dump Trucks, Roll Offs and track vehicles a plus.
Must be self-sufficient and driven.
Communicate and convey information effectively.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Must have a strong attendance record.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test.
Working Conditions
Attendance – The ability to work as scheduled with punctual attendance 7:00 am- 3:30 pm, Monday-Friday plus any additional hours/days necessary in order to meet business demands
Majority of work performed outside and in the shop
May be exposed to bright lights, extreme temperatures, loud noise, dust, gas and/or fumes
Physical Requirements
The ability to bend, stoop and lift up to 50 lbs.
Frequent lifting (10-75 lbs.), carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing on ladders and platforms of heights above 42", significant stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling throughout an 8-10 hour day, and up to 50 hours per week
Use of foot/feet to operate foot pedal on equipment
Ability to see things in close proximity and distance whether through natural or corrected vision
Ability to walk and stand on concrete and uneven surfaces for at least 8 hours per day
