About WIOA Career Coach

  Staff positions are supportive roles providing support to our rehabilitation mission. Applicants for staff positions do not need to have a barrier to employment to be eligible for these roles.

  Peckham Inc. - WIOA Career Coach

  MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  Assess participant eligibility/suitability for WIOA services, lead group orientation sessions, and conduct participant intake.

  Prepare and maintain records and case files, including documentation such as participants’ personal and eligibility information, services provided, narratives of participant contacts and relevant correspondence.

  Develop individualized plans of service that fit participants’ aptitudes, education levels, physical abilities, and career goals in a demand driven workforce development system.

  Monitor and record participants’ progress to ensure that goals and objectives are met.

  Maintain close contact with participant during job training and placements to resolve problems and evaluate placement adequacy.

  OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES including the following:

  Confer with referral agencies and community partners to develop and implement service plans.

  Coordinate participant services in collaboration with other programs.

  In cooperation with other Career Coaches, arrange and/or teach job seeking skills, retention skills, and life skills for participants.

  Develop and maintain relationships with community referral sources, such as schools, human service agencies and community groups appropriate to the needs of participants.

  Identify barriers to client employment, such as inaccessible work sites, inflexible schedules, and transportation problems, and work with participants to develop strategies for overcoming these barriers.

  Assess the need for supportive services and process requests, as needed.

  Assist customers using public computers and resources.

  Provide program and employment retention, and follow-up services for program participants.

  Work collaboratively with the CAMW! Business Service team monitoring available job leads, coordinating/writing On-the-Job Training contracts, and make referrals when appropriate.

  Participate in community and employer events with CAMW! and Peckham, Inc.

  Maintain timely case file documentation on OSMIS and in hard copy file.

  Maintain accurate documentation on participant program activities as specified by the State of Michigan, Peckham, and CAMW!

  Maintain knowledge of WIOA and CAMW! program policy.

  Meet or exceed established performance expectations as defined in the contract.

  Provide crisis intervention.

  Attend meetings for participant service planning.

  Support outcome measures, key indicators, and other Peckham/CAMW! reports.

  Provide support to public job seekers and Employment Service staff.

  Promote Peckham’s vision, values, and services to all customers and stakeholders.

  Assist in maintaining organization wide quality standards.

  Maintain a safe and clean work environment.

  Other related duties as assigned.

  SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

  Minimum Requirements

  Bachelor’s degree preferred and 1-2 year related experience and/or training

  Or 5-6 years of related experience in lieu of degree

  Familiarity with Microsoft Office 2010 (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Windows OS.

  The Career Coach must have knowledge of principles and processes for providing career counseling,

  Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality and interests; and learning and motivation.

  Excellent communication and organization skills required.

  Preferred Requirements

  Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, psychology, or a related field preferred.

  Previous WIA or WIOA case management, or Michigan Works! Adult program services experience, highly preferred.

  Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF) or Business Solutions Professional (BSP) certifications preferred.
