The Web Developer II reports to the Lead, Web Development and typicallyperforms the duties of a mid-level back-end web developer. In partnershipDivision of Marketing and Communications and other areas within InformationTechnology, this position is responsible for development and support ofUniversity's web properties built primarily within enterprise Drupal andWordPress.
Essential Functions
Independently perform the following duties:
Design and implement new features and functionality within theUniversity's web properties built using Drupal and WordPress.Develop wireframes and core site structure using Drupal and WordPress.Adjust site parameters as needed.Provide high-speed and reliable site assets.Work closely with web specialists within the Division of Marketing andCommunications and unit stakeholders to ensure an effective, visuallyappealing, functional, brand aligned, and intuitive implementation.Partner with mobile developers to ensure a device responsive web design.Partner with digital accessibility specialist to ensure accessibility of thedu.edu website and all microsites.Follow secure coding principles to develop secure websites.Partner with Marketing and Communications and their web and digitalexperience team on web development and enhancement projects and requests.Develop detailed documentation and application guides for use by Marketingand Communications, Information Technology, and clients. Document designdecisions while adhering to existing process guidelines.Manage complete project lifecycle. High proficiency and understating of web development and design.
Good understanding of content management systems such as Drupal andWordPressKnowledge of SQL, API, JOSN, XML, HTML, CSS, JavaScriptGeneral understanding of distributed computing architectures, e.g.Client/Server, Internet/Intranet, EnterpriseAbility to read, analyze, and interpret general businesscorrespondence, policies, and technical procedures. Bachelor's Degree
Three years or more of experience in Drupal or WordPress development.Proficiency with web editors, HTML, CSS, JavaScript. Experienceworking with file formats/prep for web-based images, video, and audio.Familiarity with web standards.Preferred Qualifications
