About our Department:The Water Pollution Control Department has a key role in keeping our communitys waterways clean and safe. WPC is responsible for removing pollutants from the wastewater (sewage) we generate in our daily lives at home, in schools, and in our businesses and industries. Each year, WPC purifies billions of gallons of wastewater, and returns the clean reclaimed water to our waterways.
Water Pollution Control Utility Worker Position Overview:This is skilled work in the operation and maintenance of a variety of equipment and machinery used in the cleaning and general maintenance of sewers and treatment facilities. Work involves heavy manual work requiring considerable skill in the construction, maintenance and repair of the City's wastewater collections system and treatment facilities. Work involves occasional truck driving as well as the operation of various machines and equipment.
