General Summary
TheWarehouse Supervisorcoordinates the overall operations of the Commission’s main warehouse and storage yard. Responsibilities include supervising the tasks of receiving, picking, issuing, shipping, inventory control, storage, inspection, safety, and security while ensuring inventory accuracy and sound inventory management practices. The Warehouse Supervisor develops and supervises warehouse staff to ensure outstanding customer service to internal and external customers.
Essential Functions
· Plans, organizes, supervises, and participates in daily warehouse management operations and activities, including the receipt, documentation, storage, safety and distribution of parts and supplies to internal and external customers
· Maintains prescribed inventory accuracy, service level, and issue effectiveness goals by providing customer support for orders generated from both internal and external customers, and construction contractors
· Tracks and expedites the issue of materials when orders cannot be fulfilled by coordinating actions with Material Planner and requesting customers; ensures complete customer satisfaction and thorough communications
· Monitors the performance of the automated warehousing system and on demand data reports to address customer service issues, warehouse performance, inventory accuracy discrepancies, and financial variances
· Takes necessary actions to eliminate inventory variances by managing applicable warehouse functions or by improving warehouse business processes. Reconciles receiving/shipping problems with Materials Planners, Disbursements/Accounting and Procurement staff
· Sustains, improves, and controls business processes and operating procedures created to ensure warehouse operational efficiencies
· Assigns initial cycle counts and re-counts, ensures completion within the specified required timeframes; conducts causative research on discrepancies to identify systemic problems
· Ensures serialized inventories (i.e., meters) are appropriately tracked through the receiving, inspection, storage, transfer, and issuance processes
· Facilitates “dock to stock” management best practices to ensure efficient loading and unloading of freight, ensuring paperwork and labeling is correct for all receipts and shipments, verifying the appropriate material disposition, and complying with time processing goals
· Manages the Vendor Managed Inventory Material ( VMI ) storage and distribution program, ensuring that the vendor complies with product delivery and stocking requirement, addressing any deficiencies, and coordinating support actions with the VMI Material Planner
· Manages the scrap metal recycling program including required actions to comply with the contract terms and conditions; ensures scrap bins are available where and, when needed, calls for scrap pickup, ensuring weights and descriptions of scrap are accurate; reviews revenue from scrap for accuracy
· Responsible for loss prevention and record accuracy of all incoming and outgoing shipments and coordinates logistics between Anacostia Warehouse and other WSSC facilities
· Ensures efficient space utilization within the facility; reviews and controls warehouse layout, space allocation using inventory turns, and usage statistics
· Ensures compliance with federal, state, local and Commission policies and regulations (e.g. Safety, OSHA , HazMat, DOT , DOL ) and ensures availability of CDL drivers and heavy equipment operator at the Anacostia Yard

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
· Good knowledge of modern warehousing procedures, techniques, and practices
· Good knowledge of a wide variety of materials, supplies, and equipment commonly used in construction and/or maintenance operations of the water and waste water industry
· Knowledgeable of safe work practices, policies and procedures
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other software applications (Outlook, Internet Explorer, etc.)
· Ability to operate small forklift trucks used by the Materials Management Division
· Ability to plan, assign, and review subordinate employees engaged in warehousing tasks
· Ability to establish effective working relationships with internal/external customers and suppliers
Minimum Education, Experience Requirements
·Associate’s degree and4+ years’ experience in warehouse operations, distribution, or inventory control
· Experience operating a variety of material handling equipment including forklifts, lift trucks, and pallet jacks
· Experience using a warehouse/inventory software Oracle EBS and OBIEE
OR
·High School diploma (or equivalent) and 6+ years’ experience in warehouse operations, distribution, or inventory control
· Experience operating a variety of material handling equipment including forklifts, lift trucks, and pallet jacks
· Experience using a Warehouse/Inventory software Oracle EBS and OBIEE
Additional Requirements
· Possession of a valid driver’s license with no more than 4 points; ability to obtain a WSSC Water driver’s permit within 90 days of hire or transfer
· Ability to work extended hours and weekends, as needed
· Employees in this position are designated or considered emergency personnel; therefore, the employee must report to work as scheduled or as directed by their supervisor when WSSC Water declares an event that requires emergency personnel to report to work
Preferences
· Supervisory/leadership experience
· Experience managing a warehouse/distribution process
· Working knowledge of ERP software and bar-coding technologies
· Forklift/lift truck certification
Salary$33.30 - $56.60 per hour
