Description
Bridget Killen with Robert Half is seeking a Director of Finance to join a school district in the greater area of Eugene, OR. As part of the management team, the director of finance must have strong leadership, management, technology, analytical, strategic planning, and communication skills. This may be the role for you if you are an experienced Director of Finance looking for a challenging role at an established company.
Your responsibilities
Aid in developing department goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures- Analyze and monitor forecasting and budgeting models
Maintain knowledge of laws of the State of Oregon applicable to school business
permanent and train employees, especially finance staff, and manage retention
Direct, review, and prepare budget management and financial planning functions
Take ownership of insurance and risk management
Oversee the preparation of all financial reports
Develop financial analysis before contract negotiations and product investment decisions
Design, establish, and maintain an organizational structure to effectively accomplish the department's goals and objectives
Supervise all operations of the finance and accounting department
Perform analysis on operating results, comparing against budget
Suggest benchmarks for measuring the financial and operating performance
Prepare financial outlooks and forecasts
Comply with all budgetary reporting requirements, including local, state, and federal

Requirements - Knowledge of public school funding; federal and state laws, grant accounting
Knowledge of financial and accounting reporting systems
Expert understanding of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
Very detail-oriented and expert analytical thinking skills
MBA or CPA is preferred
10+ years of finance and accounting experience
