Description

We are seeking a VP/ Controller to join our client's team located in the Philadelphia region. This VP/ Controller role requires managing the general ledger, improving accounting systems, and ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. The VP/ Controller will also work with external audit and tax teams to ensure a smooth and timely year-end close.

Responsibilities:

Manage the daily operations of the general ledger, including overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, taxation, and expense reimbursements.

Execute month-end closing procedures, identifying any assets or liabilities that have not been recorded.

Assess the accounting system's efficiency, propose enhancements, and carry out upgrades.

Regularly evaluate accounting policies and procedures to ensure they align with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Enhance the internal control environment by pinpointing and resolving perceived shortcomings.

Guarantee the proper and efficient functioning of accounting systems, making necessary improvements.

Partner with external auditors to facilitate a seamless and prompt year-end audit.

Coordinate with external tax advisors to ensure timely completion of all mandatory tax filings.

Support the management and upkeep of the company's banking infrastructure, payment systems, and credit card programs.

Requirements

The ideal VP/ Controller candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in systems, finance or accounting strongly preferred. MBA preferred.

Other requirements for the VP/ Controller position include and are not limited to:

5+ years experience in a Director role or previous experience as a Controller

Active CPA License Required

Distribution industry experience

Experience working with enterprise-level ERP systems like JD Edwards, Oracle, SAP, etc.

Ability to lead, manage, and grow a high-performing team

Demonstrated and strong understanding of all phases of sales, payable and payroll cycles, period closes, accruals, taxation, accounting processes, internal controls, and GAAP

Superior quantitative, analytical and problem-solving skills
