Position Summary/Description:
This position is a 100% remote work arrangement, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside in North Carolina, within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.
The primary purpose of this position is to provide administrative support for the Program on Chinese Cities and the Carolina Asia Center.
This position will assist in the Director of the Carolina Asia Center and the Director of the Program on Chinese Cities to successfully recruit and host international scholars, researchers and visitors within these programs.
This position is responsible for supporting the review and paperwork processes for temporary exchange visitors to UNC , coordinating with partnering universities abroad, supporting exchange visitors during their time at UNC (including planning events on-campus, off-campus and virtually), and maintaining public profile of the exchange visitor programs.
This position is responsible for processing all incoming J-1 visiting scholar requests for the Program on Chinese Cities and the Carolina Asia Center. This position will be liaison with program staff and faculty, the UNC International Student and Scholar Services ( ISSS ) office, and individual visitors.
The person in this position will proactively identify problems, determine possible solutions, and actively work to resolve the issues, communicating to the centers, visitors, faculty, and staff.
The position is 0.5 FTE .
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
