BluePearl Langhorne, PA, is seeking a veterinary assistant to assist in Surgery recovery, consultations and exam rooms

Pay: $19 - $28 / hour

This pay band is a starting point and depends on experience and advancement through our CareerTrax leveling system.

A BluePearl Surgery Assistant will be responsible for some post-operative client communication and must be able to work independently while contributing to a larger team goal. Prefer to have a minimum of two or more years of experience in a veterinary hospital.

As a Surgery Veterinary Assistant, you will:

Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.

Comfortable with assessing patients, and collecting vitals

Performs physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.

Understand normal vital parameters and alerts doctor when abnormal.

Assist the doctor with surgery consultations, exam rooms, and with creating patient treatment plans and thoroughly explaining to owners.

Ability to monitor patient response to fluid therapy, including signs of overload.

Perform safe patient restraints and digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.

Understand our hospital estimates and can clearly present and explain them to our clients

Have patience and empathy to address client concerns

Educate clients in the areas of Surgery and can provide exceptional care for our patients

Prepare medications and our patients/clients for discharge with concise directions for our clients
