Dignity Health Medical Foundation established in 1993 is a California nonprofit public benefit corporation with care centers throughout California. Dignity Health Medical Foundation is an affiliate of Dignity Health - one of the largest health systems in the nation - with hospitals and care centers in California Arizona and Nevada. Mercy Imaging Centers a service of Dignity Health Medical Foundation provides cutting-edge diagnostic imaging services at 16 locations in the greater Sacramento and Woodland areas. Our team of 160 staff members work with our specialty trained and board certified radiologists to provide high quality care to our patients. The locations perform more than 175000 exams annually with the goal of providing top quality imaging compassionate care and timely service with a smile.
Responsibilities
The Vascular Technologist is responsible for the performance of a variety of noninvasive diagnostic vascular procedures including carotid duplex ultrasound scan arterial duplex scan venous duplex scan pressure measurements and other methodologies to evaluate patients suspected of having vascular disease in accordance with the requirements of the Intersociety Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories (ICAVL).
This position reports to the Supervisor Vascular Surgery Department.
Core Duties:
Evaluates test results for technical quality and accuracy and provides complete and accurate preliminary written reports for physician review
Demonstrates competency in patient care and maintains patient confidentiality
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
Completion of a training program accredited by the American Medical Association - Committee on Allied Health Education (AMA-CAHEA) required
Current registration as a Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) required
One year of clinical experience as a Vascular Technologist required
Must maintain current CMEs/CEUs
Requires knowledge of:
Typing and office skills
Proper phone techniques
Aseptic techniques
Vascular ultrasound studies general ultrasound and pressure measurements
Human body anatomy and vascular anatomy disease and treatment
Evaluation and interpretation of test results
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation
General filing procedures
Electrical safety standards and common safety precaution
Current BLS certification required (must be certified through the American Heart Association
Requires ability to:
Perform quality vascular studies including ultrasound doppler duplex and pressure measurements
Work with computer and billing system
Establish and maintain a good working relationship with a wide variety of medical personnel
Act courteously and with tact in dealing with patients visitors and the public
Explain procedures to patients
Maintain patient confidentiality
Follow established procedures
Develop and maintain department quality assurance
Work effectively under stress and adjust priorities as circumstances require
Organize work assignments maintaining accurate and complete records
Maintain a high degree of accuracy regarding all details
Remain calm and reassure distressed patients
Work with minimal supervision
Respond effectively in emergency situations
Read and comprehend technical instructions
Communicate effectively in both oral and written communications
Preferred Qualifications:
Two (2) years of clinical experience as a Vascular Technologist preferred*This position is represented by SEIU-UHW
Pay Range
$50.70 - $58.77 /hour
