The Town of Needham seeks a dependable and responsible individual forthe position of Van Driver in the Aging Services Division. Under thedirection and supervision of the Transportation Program Coordinator, theVan Driver is responsible for safely transporting senior citizens fromtheir homes to the Center at the Heights (CATH) and other localdestinations such as grocery stores and pharmacies. Duties andResponsibilities Provide safe and dependable transportation to seniorcitizens in and around Needham Assist senior citizens with accessto/from the lift-equipped van used in transportation activities Loadgroceries and other packages into and out of the van duringgrocery/other shopping trips Complete daily safety checklist to ensurevehicle is in safe working order; maintain vehicle trip/mileage logsPerform preventative maintenance checks; reporting unusual vehiclesnoises/vibrations, tire wear, leaks or other indicators that the vehiclemay require service maintenance Ensure and maintain cleanliness insideand outside of the vehicle Requirements Possess a valid MassachusettsDrivers? License with a clean driving record Communicate effectively andinteract tactfully with the elder population and the general public Bereliable and dependable with the ability to support and assist customersand staff Have achieved at least a High School diploma or G.E.D. Havethe ability to lift/carry bundles weighing up to 20 pounds and tosupport a degree of leaning weight as passenger assistance is requiredPreferred Familiarity with relevant technology and devices such assmartphones, including texting, GPS, and use of standard officetechnology, including computers and email processes Knowledge of Needhamroads and neighborhoods Supplemental Information Applications will beaccepted on a rolling basis with the first round of review to begin forapplications received before 5 PM on Friday, February 2, 2024.
