Summary/Objective: Performs a variety of semi-skilled maintenance work,and operates a variety of equipment in the construction, operation,repair, maintenance, and replacement of City water, sewer, street, stormdrainage facilities, airport, technical services, warehouse, shop,cemetery, park and golf departments. Performsmaintenance, construction, or repair tasks involved in the constructionand maintenance of streets, water lines and services, sanitary sewerlines and services, storm sewer lines, street lights, airport and golfcourse facilities, cemetery facilities and services, technical services,park facilities, or city shop and warehouse facilities and services. 2.Performs manual tasks including but not limited to shoveling, raking,hauling, flagging traffic and minor equipment maintenance for all typesof public works projects in all public works departments. Performsroutine inspection and preventative maintenance on assigned equipmentand refers defects or needed repairs to supervisor; cleans equipment.Services water supply, sewer lift and other pumps. Seals street andairport runway cracks, patches streets, repairs roofs, cuts weeds,paints crosswalks and parking stalls, installs street and traffic signsin accordance with departmental policies and procedures as assigned. 3.Maintains a variety of records relating to inspections, maintenanceactivity, water supply, consumption. 4. Determines the locations of gas,telephone, power, television, water and sewer lines from the appropriatesources prior to excavation. 5. Responds to complaints regarding waterleaks, pressure loss or no water; evaluates situation, explains findingsto supervisor. Contacts residents and business owners in area whereservices will be discontinued and explains when services will be shutoff and how soon it will be turned back on. 6. Performs required laborinvolved in construction and maintenance projects as part of a crew,including pavement cutting, ditch digging, manhole and line cleaning,main and pipe repair, laying and backfilling. Cuts, fits, lays, repairs,taps, cleans and flushes water mains, pipe, gates and fittings on repairof mains and services and installation of services, fire hydrants anddrinking fountains, assists in shutting off broken sections of watermains. Minimum Qualifications: Any combination of experience andeducation that demonstrates the provision of the knowledge, skills andabilities listed above. Must obtain ATV and Commercial Driver\'s Licensewithin 120 days after hire and pass respirator fitness test.
