Responsibilities
Manages the day-to-day administration of more complex PCL insurance programexternal reporting mechanisms from our insurance broker, as well as dailycorrespondence with internal and external parties.Prepares complex monthly corporate forecast reports to track ongoingperformance of PCL's insurance programs. Prepares complex mid-year andyear-end planning, reporting and journal entries.Reconciles, pays, and tracks brokerage fee payment installments to ourinsurance broker and ensures correct allocation to all insurance programs bothin Canada and the United States, on a quarterly basis.Prepares data package required for the actuarial analysis prepared byinsurance brokers quarterly, which includes reviewing the loss runs andpreparation of the casualty report.Assists with the financial aspects of the completion of the renewalapplication for underwriting of insurance policies, working with riskmanagement and brokers to achieve risk strategies.Contributes to the development and improvement of the reporting mechanismsutilizing suggestions and requirements from the users as well as maintainingand revising the work processes associated with PCL's insurance programs.Semiannually and annually gathers data from various sources within PCLrequired for the policy renewal applications for the various lines ofinsurance coverage.Annually processes and codes payment for all insurance coverage renewalinvoices.
Qualifications
Postsecondary degree or diploma in a related discipline.Accounting designation an asset.Construction Risk Insurance Specialist (CRIS) certification preferred.5 years of progressive experience in a related field preferred.Experience with data mining and forecasting.Intermediate knowledge of accepted business practices, accounting principlesand law.Intermediate understanding of GAAPs (generally accepted accountingprinciples).Strong knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) financial and risksystems.Experience with preparing and analyzing financial accounting files.Strong experience with insurance programs, knowledge and strategy.
