ABOUT THIS POSITION
Summary:
The TRIO Upward Bound (UB) program, a title IV (TRIO) program, isfunded through the U.S. Department of Education. Advisors will organize andmanage the academic year component of the project and assist the Director inproviding direction for the program organization, managing curriculum andinstructional components of the summer services. The Advisors will take leadon the logistics and implementing the summer academy.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following and other dutiesas assigned:Develop, execute, and evaluate tutoring and target school relationships.Assist in identifying, recruiting, and selecting student participantsProvide project information to target schoolsAssist in assessing and prescribing a plan of project services for eachparticipantEstablish and maintain a tutoring and high school relations record systemWork to recruit students, conduct participant follow-up, and meet withschool staffMaintain communication between project participants, parents, andtarget schoolsProvide leadership for effective parental and community involvementPrepare CSPs for participants in conjunction with the DirectorCreate recruiting publications and web site guidance from the professionalstaffInput data into the curriculum and instructional record system andgenerate reports
Please note that all the positions require excellent written and oralcommunication skills and prefer applicants with experience working witheconomically and educationally disadvantaged youth.
Minimum Qualifications Required:
Bachelor s degree in education or related fieldMinimum of 3 years experience counseling or advising youthPrevious experience teaching secondary studentsDemonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective relationshipswith school personnel, parents, students, and community professionals
Preferred Qualifications:
Clear understanding of Colorado postsecondary educational systems andprocedures.Experience working with culturally diverse people in an academic setting.Someone with background similar to that of participants.Bilingual in English/Spanish.
