We have multiple positions available on projects throughout PennDOT District 4-0 in the Scranton, Wilkes Barre and Hazleton areas. District 5-0 project locations include Monroe, Northampton, Lehigh, and Schuylkill Counties. Our primary clients are the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission.The successful candidate will apply standard inspection procedures to ongoing activities during and after construction for structural quality, general safety, conformance to plans, specifications and codes.Essential Functions and ResponsibilitiesReview and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications and construction methods to ensure compliance to legal requirements and safety regulationsPerforms routine tests on concreate, soils and other materialsMeasure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades and/or pavement to ensure compliance to plans and codes.Gathers and maintains record documentsMakes field notes and computationsNonessential Functions and ResponsibilitiesPerform other related duties as assigned
Required SkillsComputer ProficiencyActive driver's licensePreferred SkillsClient Requested certifications, including: NICET Level II or higher in Transportation/Highway ConstructionNECEPT-Bituminous and Concrete Field TechnicianACI Concrete Field-Testing TechnicianCDS V-3 and/or ECMS Wave 5 Experience
Required ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent (may be substituted for experience)1-4 years of Construction Inspection ExperiencePreferred ExperienceAssociate or bachelor's degree in civil engineering or construction managementPrevious PennDOT and/or PA Turnpike Inspection ExperienceWorking ConditionsWork is performed in the field. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed.
