JMT is currently ranked #15 on Engineering News-Record's list of the Top 50 Transportation Firms.JMT's Fort Washington Construction Management team is seeking a qualified and experienced Transportation Construction Inspector (TCI-1, TCI-2 or TCI-3) for highway, bridge other infrastructure projects within the Southeastern Pennsylvania region. The successful candidate will apply standard inspection procedures to construction activities on behalf of our clients (primarily PennDOT, PA Turnpike and other local agencies) for structural quality, general safety and conformance to plans, specifications and codes.Essential Functions and ResponsibilitiesReview and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications and construction methods to ensure compliance to legal requirements and safety regulations.Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades and/or pavement to ensure compliance to plans and codes.Makes field notes and computationsGathers, reviews and maintains project records (using PennDOT ECMS and other systems)Witness routine sampling and tests on concrete, soils and other materialsNonessential Functions and ResponsibilitiesPerform other related duties as assigned
Required ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent (may be substituted for experience)1-4 years of Construction Inspection Experience (Transportation preferred)Strong Computer ProficiencyActive driver's license and reliable motor vehiclePreferred QualificationsAssociate's or bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction ManagementClient Requested certifications (required to meet TCI-3 qualifications), including:NICET Level 2 or higher in Transportation/Highway ConstructionNECEPT-Bituminous Field TechnicianPennDOT Concrete Field Technician (ACI Concrete Field Technician is prerequisite)CDS NeXtGen and/or ECMS Wave 5Working ConditionsWork is performed in the field. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed.
