FTE: 1.000000 Shift: 1st shift 8 am to 4:30 pm Job Summary: TheTransplant Financial Coordinator (TFC) is a pivotal position in theBlood and Marrow Transplant program. The role of the TFC is to assurethe financial viability of all transplant and cellular therapy referralsthroughout the continuum of care. The TFC\'s primary responsibilitiesare to ensure that patients being considered for blood or marrowtransplantation, or cellular therapy have adequate insurance benefitsand/or resources identified to ensure the best financial outcomes forboth patients and the institution. This includes the verification ofbenefits for all transplant/cellular therapy related services, workingwith patients to understand their insurance coverage (includinginpatient, outpatient, prescription, housing, travel, etc), helping findinsurance coverage for patients, and working with team on disability,financial assistance, etc. The TFC is the primary up-front contact forinsurance companies and medical reviewers. Determines whatpatient-specific and treatment-specific information is required byinsurance companies and medical reviewers in order to obtain priorauthorization for transplant and cellular therapy & related services.EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION: One year of healthcare experience is required.Experience in managed care, Medicare, Medicaid, or other healthinsurance environment is preferred. Experience with medical terminologyis preferred. Previous experience working with insurance companies isstrongly preferred.EDUCATION DESCRIPTION: Bachelor\'s degree in SocialWork, Psychology, Business, or Nursing OR other Bachelor\'s degree withrelevant experience is required.SPECIAL SKILLS DESCRIPTION: Ability towork independently and take programmatic initiative. Stronginterpersonal skills and proven ability to function in a confidentialand highly responsible manner required. Excellent computer skillsrequired.
