  This is a position specific recruitment and is open to anyone who meets the minimum and selective qualifications listed below. The resulting list of eligibles wiill be used to fill this Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) position or function only. You will need to reapply for any future recruitment conducted for this job classification.

  This is an administrative support work providing administrative services for the MVA School Bus Safety section. This position is responsible for responding to all correspondence communicated through the department's email address. The administrative assistant also acts as intermediary for the manager to address customers questions and or complaints. Duties within this position also, ensures that school vehicles comply with applicable school vehicle State and Federal Motor Vehicle Laws, by assisting with school bus inspections schedules and manifest for vehicle compliance agents.

  Responsibilities included but not limited to the following:

  Preparing school bus inspection notifications and letters for school buses owned by contractors and Board of Education.

  Responding to school bus inspection program inquiries received through emails, phone and fax.

  Preparing, processing and filing manifest, mileage logs, reimbursement sheet.

  Making required updates for customers with MVA electronic system (Customer Connect).

  Responsible for keeping the department inventory, files, policies and procedures.

  Preparing documents and reports.

  Representing the department when requested to complete testing of program requirement within MVA electronic system.

  Timekeeper for employee bi-weekly payroll as required.

  The current vacancy exist at the MVA School Bus Inspections and Compliance office in Glen Burnie Maryland (Anne Arundel).

  Qualifications

  Minimum Qualifications

  Education: Graduation from a standard high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

  Experience: Five years of experience in secretarial work.

  Notes:

  Applicants may substitute additional secretarial or clerical experience on a year for year basis, for the required education.

  Applicants may substitute an Associate of Arts degree with a major in Secretarial Science from an accredited college for up to two years of the required experience.

  U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as defined under the Minimum Qualifications may be substituted for the education and experience on a year-for-year basis.
