Summary This position is located in the Plant Engineering Division, at the United States Mint in Denver, CO. The position is administratively and technically responsible for the supervision of work operations performed by the following: Toolmaker Work Leader, Toolmakers, Machinists, and Apprentices. Responsibilities As a Toolmaker Supervisor, you will: Plan and schedule work, sequence of operations, manpower, equipment, materials, and tools on a day-to-day, project-by-project, and month-to-month basis for the overall use of subordinate personnel. Explain work requirements, methods and procedures to subordinates; advise and counsel workers on how to improve performance and explains new work techniques. Identify and ensure work unit goals are aligned with United States Mint strategic goals; effectively translate and communicate work unit goals into concrete work assignments for staff. Lead process improvement initiatives for toolmakers and machinists. Be responsible for supporting a comprehensive Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) program for all assigned machine shop equipment and blanking dies to ensure they are available for production/function when needed. Requirements Conditions of Employment All employees must wear face masks while on MINT property when required by CDC and Federal guidelines. A one year probationary period may be required. A one year supervisory or managerial probationary period may be required. Must successfully complete a background investigation. Public Trust - Background Investigation will be required. Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency. Have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer. If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so. Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9. Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S. Shift Work: This facility operates on a 24 hour per day, three-shift basis, 5 days a week. Work schedules may vary and assignment to a specific shift cannot be guaranteed. The successful applicant must be available to work on all three shifts on a rotational basis. May be required to wear safety clothing and/or equipment required by the position. This may include safety shoes, hard hats, hearing protection, gloves, masks, etc. Pass a pre-employment physical examination. The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. You must meet the screen-out element Ability To Lead Or Supervise, normally addressed at the beginning of the online questions. To meet the screen-out element, applicants must have experience in a supervisory or lead position directing many personnel and performing administrative duties such as; organizing, assigning, and directing work assignments. In addition, you must also obtain an average score of two (2) for the following elements for this position as addressed through the online question in order to be considered minimally qualified. This position requires that the successful candidate undergo personnel vetting, which includes a background investigation and enrollment upon onboarding into "Continuous Vetting."
