Southwire Job Description
Oversee entire tooling program for Utility Plant
Description of Duties and Responsibilities
Manage and support the tool and die operations team
Oversee the plants tool and die program for all equipment in the plant
Establish tooling rotational program for all tooling types
Establish life cycles for all types of tooling
Oversee tooling inventory levels and establish min/max levels based on equipment demand
Work with QA and Engineering teams to establish product tooling needs based on material usage data
Update current and establish new work instructions for tooling quality checks
Support Southwire’s Culture of Zero by demonstrating safe and quality conscious work habits
Lead the completion of Incident Investigations at the time of the event, including root cause and corrective action. Responsibility to escalate.
Drive continuous improvement supporting plant leadership objectives
Participate in Lean activities, such as Kaizen events, Problem Solving events, SMED, GEMBA walks, VSM and others
Support of Lean Management systems and Lean tools like 5S, DHP, VSM, TPM, and KPIs
Must support the production departments and work closely with the VSM’s and the supervisors in the plant
Must demonstrate the ability to learn new skills and adapt to change quickly
Must be flexible and willing to accept responsibilities that are outside the traditional scope
Be able to work unconventional hours to support a 24/7 manufacturing environment
Qualifications and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree preferred in Business, or related field along with 5+ year’s related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must possess strong leadership skills as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong analytical skills.
Must be proficient in Word, Excel and other software products and have a very good aptitude for information systems.
SAP, Advaris, Kaizen Optimizer, Cable builder knowledge is preferred
Must be detail oriented with the ability to think critically and logically
