Position Summary
The Tool & Die Maker Apprentice is an entry level position that will train under journeyman-level technicians for a total of 8,000 hours of on-the-job training in order to complete requirements for the State of Ohio Tool and Die Maker Journeyman's program.
Essential Job Functions
*ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES*• The apprentice will train under journeyman level technicians for a total of 8,000 on the job training hours in order to complete the state of Ohio apprenticeship program.• Apprentices will be taught required technical skills to handle work assignments related to the operation and maintenance of progressive and single-hit tooling.• Training will include, but is not limited to: design, fabrication, assembly, repair and troubleshooting of jigs, fixtures, progressive and single-hit tooling.• It is preferred that the candidates have currently attended and successfully completed an accredited vocational trades school program, or 2-year associate technical college program in Machining Technology or equivalent program.• Must be willing to complete 8,000 of on-the-job training as part of the requirements of the apprenticeship program.• Candidates will be required to demonstrate competency over the course of the program in order to qualify for on-going employment.• Must be able to communicate and work well in a team environment.• Capable of following directions and utilizing time wisely for maximum efficiency on assigned work tasks.• Must be safety conscience at all times.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
2-year associate technical college program in Machining Technology or equivalent program preferred.
VISUAL ACUITYNear acuity and accommodation are required for reading machine dial gauges, blueprints and precision-measuring instruments used in the inspection of parts.
HEARING ABILITYAbility to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose changes in order to take appropriate action.
WORKING CONDITIONSNormally works on shop floor. The employee is subject to high noise levels from operating machines, physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts and skin exposure to oils and cutting fluid.The employee is required to stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead and bend to the floor. May exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently to move objects.
