The GE Richmond Service Center specializes in technical repairs and balancing services for a diverse selection of High, Intermediate, and Low Pressure Turbine rotors, Gas Turbines, and Generator fields weighing up to 200 tons at operational speeds up to 3,600 RPM.
The Testing Engineer is responsible for providing planning and execution of balancing campaigns of power generation rotating equipment, while assessing and maintaining test facility operability and capability. Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
Review, modify, and create testing plans and technical drawings for Low Speed and High Speed Balancing
Conduct Low Speed and High Speed balancing of rotating equipment
Operate testing equipment (multi-meters, oscilloscopes, vibration monitoring equipment, etc.)
Support equipment upgrades and maintenance projects of equipment
Lead and direct technical personnel during testing campaigns
Provide direction during testing to hourly associates
Adhere to all safety, quality, and schedule requirements
Compile, assimilate, and analyze data from various sources and make recommendations
Produce Final Reports from testing data
Uses some judgment and has some ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address more complicated manufacturing processes with technical variety and/or interdependent production cycles
Uses technical experience and analytical thinking
Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own teams to arrive at decisions
May lead continuous improvement projects
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited university or college OR HS Diploma / GED or equivalent with 4 years of professional experience in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related discipline
Minimum of 3 years of experience in an engineering and/or testing environment.

Be willing to work occasional night shifts from 9pm to 7am
Willing and able to work necessary overtime, weekends, and holidays
Must pass a drug test and background check
This position is 100% onsite at the GE Richmond, VA Service Center
Desired Characteristics
Strong oral and written communication skills
Experience in testing or balancing of power generation rotating equipment
Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems
Ability to document, plan, and execute testing programs
Ability to troubleshoot electromechanical systems
Experience reviewing electrical schematics
Experience with CAD software (SolidEdge, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor)
Tooling design and implementation
Lean Manufacturing experience
Demonstrated ability to adapt, be flexible, and maintain enthusiasm during periods of change to schedule and testing parameters.
Fluent written and spoken English
Strong team player with good interpersonal skills
Pay Transparency
The base pay range for this position is $76,600 - 102,100.00. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for a 10% performance bonus/variable incentive compensation/equity. This posting is expected to close on February 17 , 2024, or thereafter.
*The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
