We are looking for a talented Test Technology Engineer to join our team specializing in Engineering for our Corporate Business in Columbus, IN and/or your remote home office.
In this early career role as a Test Technology Engineer, you will be working on designing or specifying test systems that allow the operation of Cummins’ products in a laboratory or field environment for engineering evaluation to optimize our product designs. This involves the specification, design, implementation, validation, and support of test systems including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, instrumentation, data acquisition, and control systems.
As a Test Technology Engineer, you will:
Utilize the core competencies of electrical, thermal, and fluid sciences, to employ and develop equipment to be used in the testing of Cummins products.
Evaluate equipment and develop the skill to apply Measurement Uncertainty Analysis to measurands to determine the measurement capability of a system.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues with testing equipment.
Apply the principles of Electromechanical fundamentals, Fluid dynamics, Thermodynamics, Energy conversion systems and Heat Transfer to real-world problems.
Actively engage in product problem solving and Testing Equipment failure mode avoidance,
Leverage data analysis results to drive improvements to equipment and testing.
You will make an impact by:
Analytically investigating product, system and/or technology problems and recommending appropriate actions for problem resolution and/or optimization
Using your understanding of Mechanical and Electrical and fundamental Physics to understand causal mechanisms and recommend appropriate action.
Actively collaborating with key stakeholders and colleagues, using analysis results to impact and support the successful advancement of technologies.
Making day to day decisions on including conducting analysis, testing, and communicating with stakeholders that impact and support the successful progression of projects.
Owning problem resolution for moderately/high complex systems, subsystems, or services with a high degree of technical complexity and ambiguity and with accountability to the project team.
Using tools related to Mechanic, Electrical, thermal, and fluid sciences such as:
AVL Concerto
Emissions data systems
MATLAB (with In-House developed plugins)
Cyflex and PUMA acquisition Systems
To be successful in this role you will need:
A College, University or equivalent Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or appropriate STEM field
Prior exposure to CAD/CAE solid modeling and design software is preferred.
Effective communication skills along with strengths in logic, planning and decision making.
Experience using Microsoft Office tools or equivalents, especially Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
A postgraduate (Master’s or PhD) degree is typically NOT required for Test Technology Engineer roles.

Major Programs Typically Considered: All Engineering Majors
Cummins Full Time Requirements:
College, university or equivalent technical experience required
Minimum 2.5 GPA or above required
Must be able to complete 40 hours per week
0-2 years in a position/internship relating to your field of study preferred

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
