DescriptionVoter Service and Polling Center (VSPC) Election Judges assist voters atVoter Service and Polling Centers located throughout Arapahoe County.

　　VSPC Election Judges must be available to work for the entire time that VSPCsare open, up to, and including, Election Day.

　　Note that VSPC locations may open up to 2 weeks in advance of Election Day.

　　VSPC Election Judges are cross-trained to perform ALL roles at the votecenter.

　　**Locations: Aurora, Byers, Centennial, Englewood, Glendale,Greenwood Village and Littleton.

　　Note: This is a seasonal position with variable working hours based onbusiness needs.

　　DutiesThe following duty statements are illustrative of the essential functions ofthe job and do not include other non-essential or marginal duties that may berequired. The County reserves the right to modify or change the duties oressential functions of this job at any time.Greet voters, answer questions about the election, and direct voters toother VSPC judges.Verify proper identification, register new voters and update existing voterregistration.Issue paper or mail ballots.Prepare ballot marking devices for voters to cast their votes.Manage security of ballot boxes at the polling centers.Assist with VSPC set-up, and tear-down on election night.Complete reconciliation and chain-of-custody paperwork.Assist IT staff with technical support of VSPC equipment.Supervisor judges will oversee the other judges and the operation of theVSPCs.Skills & Abilities:Personal communication skills enabling courteous and diplomatic interactionswith voters and election poll watchers.Ability to establish effective working relationships with co-workers.Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.Ability to focus on a single task for extended periods.Attention to detail.Proficient computer skills.Flexibility to work varying hours and overtime or weekends when needed.Knowledge of SCORE database, a plus.Experience in VSPCs, a plus.Ability to use personal mobile phone for daily communication with ElectionStaff and VSPC Supervisor.Behavioral Competencies:Consistently punctual.Flexible, willing to work overtime when necessary.Exhibits professionalism and works well with others.Follows instructions and responds well to management direction.Maintains a clean workspace.Accepts responsibility for own actions and work product.Multi-lingual fluency a plus.Able to remain politically neutral while carrying out the duties of the VSPCElection Judge.RequirementsEDUCATION:HS Diploma or GED equivalent required.ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:18 years of age or olderA resident and registered to vote in ColoradoPass a pre-employment background check to include a Colorado Bureau ofInvestigation (CBI) background checkNot a candidate or a relative to the 2nd degree of a candidate on the ballotNote - Student Judges are only hired for General Elections and must be 16 or17 years old.Supplemental InformationSUPERVISION RECEIVED:VSPC Judges receive immediate supervision from the VSPC Supervisor Judge.They may also receive supervision from Arapahoe County Elections employees.INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS:Primary contacts are with the voting public, the Ballot Security Team, andother Election Judges at their assigned VSPC. Judges may also interact withemployees of Arapahoe County Elections, IT, or Facilities departments.These contacts require the ability to exercise a high degree ofprofessionalism, tact, and diplomacy.WORK ENVIRONMENT:Work is confined to a standard office setting and occasional warehousesetting.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:The following are some of the physical demands commonly associated with thisposition.Spends 80% of each day sitting and another 20% either walking or standing.Occasionally lifts or carries up to 50 lbs, with the assistance of aco-worker.Oral and auditory capacity enabling interpersona communication, as well ascommunication through automated devices such as the telephone.Eye, hand, and finger coordination, as well as visual capacity,enabling use of office equipment.Definitions:Occasionally: Activity exists less than 1/3 of the time.Frequently: Activity exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time.Constantly: Activity exists more than 2/3 of the time.
