DESCRIPTIVE STATEMENT:
This is a non-exempt Temporary/Part-time position limited to 1,300 hours annually. This position is part-time, working in the Parks and Recreation Department, under the direct supervision of the Parks Supervisor. The Program Coordinator oversees, directs, and coordinates volunteer operations and activities within the Parks and Recreation Department. This position also develops and implements program goals/objectives and integrates, collaborates, and supports volunteer efforts.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
The employee must have thorough knowledge of and proficiency with:
Modern office equipment and be proficient in the operation of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office 365 tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher.
Principles of business correspondence, hand-written and electronic, and report preparation.
Principles and practices of volunteer program development and implementation.
Principles of lead supervision and volunteer training.
Procedures, methods and techniques of budget preparation and control.
Rules and regulations of any governing agency the provides oversight to volunteer programs.
Methods and techniques of eliciting community and agency funding support for volunteer programs.
Record keeping and data collection methods and procedures.
Recent developments, current literature and information related to volunteer programing.
Marketing theories, principles and practices and their application to volunteer program administration.
Operation of computer programs and software applications related to job duties and assignments.
The employee must have the skill and ability to:
Oversee, coordinate, and implement volunteer programs.
Show initiative and vision for continuous improvement.
Maintain accurate records.
Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Work effectively as a member of a team.
Interpret and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Ensure program compliance with mandated City policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.

Work successfully with and provide good customer service to supervisors, other City employees, the public, and other agencies, and organizations.
Perform all of the job duties in a safe manner.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
In addition to the knowledge, skills and abilities listed above, this position requires the following:
An associate degree or at least 60 credit hours college course work from an accredited college or university
1 year experience working with and coordinating volunteer efforts
A valid, unrestricted driver’s license by date of application and a valid, unrestricted Colorado driver’s license by date of appointment
An associate degree may be substituted for:
A high school diploma and two (2) years of successful experience in a related position which required planning and coordinating similar activities SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
First aid certification is desirable. The individual must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Due to Federal and State Criminal Justice System access requirements, classifications that access and maintain criminal justice information may also be required, as a condition of employment, to not have been convicted of and/or have pending charges of a felony or misdemeanor crime that would deny or otherwise restrict access to criminal justice information. This requirement applies to all existing City employees as well as external candidates seeking to fill positions that meet the given criteria.

City of Pueblo Temporary and Seasonal Employee Sick Leave Benefits
Beginning January 1, 2021, all employers in Colorado are required to provide paid sick leave to employees under the Healthy Families and Workplaces Act (“HFWA”). Said leave is accrued at one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked, up to a maximum of 48 hours.
Per the Act, leave may be used for any of the following reasons:
The employee has a mental or physical illness, injury, or health condition; needs a medical diagnosis, care, or treatment related to such illness, injury, or condition; or needs to obtain preventive medical care.
The employee needs to care for a family member who has a mental or physical illness, injury, or health condition; needs a medical diagnosis, care, or treatment related to such illness, injury, or condition; or needs to obtain preventive medical care.
The employee or family member has been the victim of domestic abuse, sexual assault, or harassment and needs to be absent from work for purposes related to such crime; or
A public official has ordered the closure of the school or place of care of the employee's child or of the employee's place of business due to a public health emergency, necessitating the employee's absence from work.
Consistent with the HWFA, part-time temporary and seasonal employees of the City shall not carry forward more than forty-eight (48) hours of unused sick leave from one year to the next.

City employment as a temporary or seasonal employee means that the most you can expect to work is 1300 hours in a calendar year. Depending on the work schedule required by the hiring department, this means more time to spend with your family and/or doing other activities.
