CVT is seeking a Journeyman Telecommunication Technician to maintain, install, replace, and repair customer premise equipment and all types of cable facilities. If you have experience with fiber splicing, cutting terminals for new construction, troubleshooting and maintaining Central Office switching systems, and performing acceptance testing, this position could be a great fit! The ideal candidate would have over four years (8,000 hours) of experience working with OSP facilities, experience with necessary tools and work equipment (as detailed in the job description) and be able to work in varying and often extreme climatic conditions.
General Summary:Installs, maintains and repairs customer premises equipment. Splices fiber cables and cuts terminals for new construction. Installs, maintains and repairs all types of cable facilities. Troubleshoots and maintains Central Office switching systems. Performs acceptance testing. Maintains and completes records, logs and reports as appropriate.
Essential Job Functions:
Installs, maintains, and repairs customer premises equipment. Installs drop wires, station protectors, and network interface devices, and performs initial wiring or rewiring for new subscriber systems.Splices fiber cables and cuts terminals for new construction. Installs, maintains and repairs all types of cable facilities.Troubleshoots and maintains Central Office switching systems. Queries system for status reports and trouble isolation.Ensures functionality of newly installed Central Office equipment by performing acceptance tests as appropriate.Maintains and completes records, logs, reports and as-built documents and forwards to appropriate personnel.Performs all other related duties as assigned by management.**These tasks do not meet the Americans With Disabilities Act definition of essential job functions and are usually less than 5% of time spent. Education and Experience: High School diploma or equivalent plus four years (8,000 hours) of outside plant construction and maintenance experience.
