Overview
POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The Sanitation Technician I is responsible for various cleaning activities focusing primarily on tasks relating to the washroom areas. This position must work quickly and accurately to minimize interruption to production activities and ensure equipment is properly cleaned resulting in compliance to internal standards and all regulatory guidelines for the goal of producing the highest quality of product.
DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
Maintain all washrooms keeping them clean and organized
Maintain all sanitation equipment, taking care to properly inspect, clean and store them
Control and dispense all cleaning and sanitizing chemical agents for use in washrooms and in production areas
Maintain log of all dispensed chemicals
Ensure dispensed chemicals are mixed to proper ratios for intended task
Label all containers with required information including date and time stamp
Properly dispose of mixed chemicals that were dispensed greater than 24 hours prior
Triple rinse empty chemical drums for recycling
Prepare cleaning carts with chemicals and needed tools for upcoming cleans of production rooms and equipment
Deliver/retrieve carts to/from requested areas
Break down carts, cleaning used items properly and storing them in appropriate areas for future use
Wash, rinse, and sanitize various equipment and parts in the washrooms in accordance with internal SOP’s and all regulatory guidelines
Retrieve/deliver parts from/to production areas
Separate items in need of cleaning from those that have been cleaned, tagging each respectively
Where possible, assist with major/minor cleans of the production areas
Work with management to evaluate cleaning procedures and make recommendations for process improvement
Work safely, adhering to all PPE requirements and safety policies
Other duties assigned by management

Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Skills:
Follow written and verbal instruction
Strong attention to detail
Ability to work independently and maintain high levels of productivity
Solid understanding of various forms and uses for basic chemicals
Excellent time management
Ability to legibly and accurately complete log books and documentation
Strong, positive demeanor and adherence towards safety
Highly organized with the ability to maintain numerous ongoing projects
Ability to lift 50 lbs. on a continuous basis
This position will require the employee to operate a motorized powered lift i.e. Forklift, Scissor lift, one man lift, etc. A MVR (Motor Vehicle Report) will determine an employee’s eligibility to operate these lifts.
Experience:
One-year experience in food, beverage, or dairy processing/manufacturing environment
Previous experience handling and dispensing of chemical agents
Education:
High school diploma or equivalentPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
cGMP trained
Knowledgeable of Good Document Practices
Previous experience in a food or nutraceutical manufacturing environment
Previous sanitation experience
