We aim to hire and develop those who will raise the bar over the course of their career at Amazon (and not just in their first position).This position will be responsible for supporting all aspects of Accounting Policy's work including: supporting our operational accounting teams by researching and applying US and International accounting standards to unique business transactions, developing and updating formal accounting policies, supporting organization wide training initiatives and managing all aspects of communications to our stakeholders. This role will require significant collaboration with internal stakeholders.Key job responsibilities* Partner and collaborate with key stakeholders by researching and applying US GAAP to unique, significant, and/or non-routine transactions.* Ensure appropriate documentation of accounting and reporting conclusions for complex, highly judgmental business transactions involving revenue arrangements, leases, business combinations, stock-based compensation, investments, and VIEs and consolidation.* Develop, maintain and publish Amazon's corporate wide accounting policies and assist with the application of these policies.* Develop and support organization wide training initiatives.* Manage accounting projects on an ad-hoc basis.* Actively coach and develop staff on Amazon's operational accounting teams.We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:Seattle, WA, USA- 8+ years of finance or a related analytical field experience- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field- CPA- Knowledge of GAAP research tools and the FASB codification- Experience researching and documenting support for accounting conclusions- * Big 4 audit background at the senior manager level (Fortune 500 clients), preferably with experience working in or with the national office.- * Accounting policy and operational accounting experience with one or more Fortune 500 companies for two or more years.- * Expertise with the application of US and International GAAP to unique or complex business transactions.- * Demonstrated ability to draft technical accounting positions in plain English.- * Aptitude for influencing and galvanizing others to follow you toward a solution.Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $111,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $207,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
