DescriptionSchedule: Monday - Friday - Day ShiftAs a Medical Lab Education and Training Manager you will be supporting Vitalant's life saving mission by working within the Reference Lab and be responsible for coordinating program activities for the Blood Bank Technology Program.

Performs all assigned duties in compliance with internal SOPs and externalregulations.Brings compliance issues to the attention of management.Provide value for the customer by supporting departmental and individual goalachievement, effective communications, process improvement and compliance.Demonstrate respect for all team members by seeking input on processes and problemsolving, communicating key information, collaborative teamwork and supporting aculture of diversity.Maintains up-to-date knowledge in all aspects of Blood Bank Technology (e.g.,transfusion medicine, donor center operations, immunology, immuno-hematology,blood group genetics, management regulations and standards, etc.).Plans, prepares and teaches didactic classes and student laboratories.Coordinates the scheduling of lectures, laboratories, and clinical practices.Coordinates student recruitment and admissions.Collaborates with other Education Managers to update the curriculum, literature, andcourse syllabi as required to remain current with regulations, standards, and scientificknowledge.Assesses student performance, counsels, and mentors students with their researchprojects, if applicable.Performs and monitors the program evaluations.Monitors program success rate for passing the BB exam. Makes appropriate changes when needed. Provides feedback to lecturer, clinical instructors, and institutions regarding areas needing improvementand to provide recognition.Participates/supports all internal and external audits.Oversees all new hire training, and staff training on new/revised processes.Oversees all training documentation to ensure it is up to date in Learning Center.Oversees CLIA competencies and all associated documents for completion.Performs all other duties, at the discretion of management, as assigned.RequirementsREQUIREMENTS:Knowledge/Education1. Bachelor's degree required.2. Master's degree preferred.3. Knowledge of training and education methods, including associated regulatoryrequirements, required.4. Knowledge of all aspects of Blood Bank Technology to include areas of transfusionmedicine, donor center operations, immunology, immuno-hematology, blood groupgenetics, management regulations and standards required.5. In-depth knowledge of clinical laboratory interrelationships required.License/Certifications1. MLS/MT certification required.2. SBB certification preferred.3. State license as applicable preferred.Experience1. Five years extensive clinical laboratory experience required. To include:Three years training or teaching experience.One year experience with distance learning and computer-based training preferred.Skills/Abilities1.
