  Job ID348889 LocationTwin Cities Job FamilyEducation-General Full/Part TimePart-Time Regular/TemporaryRegular Job Code9754 Employee ClassAcad Prof and Admin About the Job Position Overview The Department of Curriculum & Instruction, College of Education and Human Development, continually accepts resumes for teaching positions that may open up during the academic year or summer session. Applications are reviewed as openings occur, and individual applicants are invited to interview when their skills or areas of expertise match a specific opening. These are temporary, non-tenured, Academic Professional and Administrative (P&A) positions as Teaching Specialist or Lecturer, paid on a per course basis with a maximum of 4 credits. Typically, these appointments are made semester by semester and employment is contingent on the course meeting its enrollment target. This posting is designed to establish a "pool" of instructors. Applicants will be selected from this pool on an as-needed basis throughout the academic year. Applications may not be acknowledged upon receipt, but will be reviewed when such openings occur throughout the academic year. Job Responsibilities Teaching (90%) Attend class meetings and deliver course content. Evaluate student performance and submit grading. Respond to student inquiries and meet with students. Course Preparation (10%) Complete orientation and training. Meet with appropriate faculty and gather information as needed. Develop course content and syllabus. Prepare course materials. Qualifications Required Qualifications A Master's degree is require to be hired as a Teaching Specialist A PhD degree is required to be hired as a Lecturer Capacity to develop a strong record of excellence in teaching and academic program development at the postbac and graduate level, and service/outreach activities At least two years of educational experience in a context related to the teaching assignment For teaching a methods course: Advanced academic experiences (a minimum of masters degree) in a teacher education program (or an undergraduate teacher education program and a masters in education or the content area) At least one academic year of Pre-12 teaching experience aligned to content area and scope (grade level) Demonstrated active engagement in professional organizations, other education-related endeavors at the local, state or national levels, and ongoing involvement in prekindergarten through grade 12 schools (within the past three years) Preferred Qualifications An earned doctorate in education Experience as a master teacher or school administrator Demonstrated commitment to diversity Current knowledge of research About the Department Department Overview The Department of Curriculum and Instruction is committed to training educators throughout the state of MN as well as throughout the US.
