The Center for Instruction, Technology and Innovation (CiTi BOCES) has a need for a Teaching Assistant in our Alternative Vocational Education program for the 2023-2024 school year.

　　Teaching Assistants assist teachers by performing duties such as: Working with individual pupils or groups of pupils on special instructional projects. Provide the teacher with information about pupils that will assist the teacher in the development of appropriate learning experiences. Assisting pupils in the use of available instructional resources, and assisting in the development of instructional materials. Utilizing their own special skills and abilities by assisting in instructional programs for the 2023-2024 school year only, this position includes 1:1 responsibilities.

　　INSTRUCTIONAL ABILITY: Works well with students, establishes rapport, develops good interaction with students, keeps them actively involved. Works toward providing each individual with the opportunity to be successful. Reads and understands teacher’s lesson plans. Demonstrates enthusiasm in instruction, establishes limits with students; consistently adheres to them. Deals objectively and fairly with students and can foresee a job that needs to be done and completes it.

　　PROFESSIONAL PERFORMANCE: Views role in proper perspective. Exhibits a desirable attitude toward job. Is able to work with limited supervision. Knows and understands philosophy of teachers. Knows and understands philosophy of BOCES. Accepts constructive criticism, recognizes limitations and works to overcome them. Has an appropriate attitude in relationships with administrators. Handles information about students, co-workers, supervisors ethically, practices school policy and regulations.

　　OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Willingness to work with a wide range of student population. Perform the daily physical demands as outlined by the “Teacher/Teacher Assistant Essential Elements of Job” document. Other duties as requested by the classroom teacher and/or immediate supervisor.
