  Schedule:8am to 4pm Mon-FriPay Range:$55k to $67,500 for 1-7 years of experience.PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Teacher on the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) assesses a child's educational and cognitive development and other developmental areas including, but not limited to, social/emotional, adaptive/self-help, fine motor, gross motor, sensory processing, and behavior. The Teacher works with other members of the MDT to ensure that the evaluation report (ER) documents all assessment findings including, but not limited to, a thorough description of child's strengths and weaknesses in all areas of development for the purpose of determining program eligibility and developing individualized goals, specially designed instruction, and recommendations for a developmentally-appropriate individualized education plan (IEP) and early intervention (EI) services.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESObtain signed permission to evaluate (PTE) form from parent/guardian prior to scheduled evaluation within mandated timelinesPlace reminder calls to parents/guardians prior to scheduled evaluationReview the "Problem Solving in EI" document with each family at the time of the evaluation to ensure they understand the process for disputes regarding the assessment findingsConduct Multi-Disciplinary Evaluations (MDE) and/or Record Reviews (RR) collaboratively with other MDT members and follow Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Chapter 14 guidance to determine child's eligibility for preschool special education servicesUse standardized assessments including, but not limited to, cognitive, social/emotional, adaptive/self-help, and other related assessments addressing, fine motor, gross motor, sensory processing, and behavior to determine eligibility for EI servicesConduct observations in school and interview teachers as necessary to get a full picture of the child's developmentWork collaboratively with MDT members to write and edit thorough Evaluation Reports (ERs) within mandated timelines for developmentally-appropriate Individualized Education Plan (IEP) developmentAdhere to mandated compliance timelines for conducting evaluations and writing and sending ERs to familiesUpdate child electronic record in internal information management systems and state-managed database systems to ensure compliance with internal timelines and state and federal mandates by entering data included, but not limited to, PTE received date, evaluation scheduled and completed date, eligibility, and diagnosisUpdate file notes in child's electronic record in internal information management systems to ensure detailed documentation of parental contact, outreach, tasks completed related to the evaluation process, including but limited to, reminder calls to family about scheduled appointment, teacher-related calls and responses, and evaluation cancelationsNotify the appropriate staff member for No-Shows and reschedulesNotify the appropriate stakeholder agency (e.g., Childlink, Partnership, and Head Start Special Needs Coordinators) via email with eligibility determinationFor children found ineligible, create Notice of Recommended Educational Placement (NOREP) and call family to review assessment results and reason for ineligibility; close out child's record in information management systems as documented in ELS proceduresPerform other duties as assignedIMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Regional ManagerDIRECT AND INDIRECT REPORTS:  NoneCONTACTS: Pre-school aged children, Elwyn staff, parents, teachers, related services providers, community agencies, Philadelphia School District Special Needs Coordinators/TeachersEDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelors in Early Childhood/Special EducationPennsylvania certification in Early Child Education (ECE) and/or Special EducationOne year experience administering preschool s andardized assessment toolsKnowledge of Chapter 14 regulatory requirements specific to IEP development and progress monitoring requirementsDemonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a teamAbility to work in a fast-paced environment and manage and prioritize multiple, often competing, prioritiesDemonstrated strong attention to detailDemonstrated strong time management and organizational skillsDemonstrated excellent judgment with the ability to independently solve problems and make decisions with little or no need for direct supervisionDemonstrated ability to anticipate future needed changes or identify problem areas and take effective actionsMust be able to perform CPR using agency-trained protocolsMust possess excellent customer interaction, collaboration, presentation, and written and verbal communication skillsDemonstrated intermediate experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint; Publisher preferredExperience with electronic record systems; PELICAN and CCP/Sprout preferredMust have current, valid driver's license in state of residence, three (3) years driving experience in the United States, and acceptable driving recordPHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENTAL PROFILE: See Physical Demands Checklist below which represents the general physical demands and environment conditions to which the employee holding this position must meet, in addition to the duties and responsibilities listed above, to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
