Description
We are currently hiring for a Systems Test Engineer for the Algorithm Engineering Team to help bring the next generation of Abiomed technologies to market. Working in close collaboration with algorithm engineers, software developers, systems and quality engineers, the Systems Test Engineer will help design, execute, and analyze all aspects of system-level testing to support ongoing business needs. The individual will also be a key contributor to the development of novel, smart algorithms to improve heart pump performance by designing, maintaining and utilizing benchtops for data generation. Responsibilities:
Design and execute system-level testing of products to verify algorithms against specifications.
Provide key input into defining system verification plans, protocols, and reports.
Participate in project team development activities by designing and executing exploratory bench tests of heart pumps and animal studies to support algorithm engineers in the design and development phase.
Characterize system performance of heart pumps, including hemodynamics, blood compatibility, ease of use, strength and reliability, algorithms, and software.
Draw conclusions from analysis and tests, and interpret the implications by using tools like Matlab, Python and R.
Coordinate with project leaders and conduct technical design reviews to drive project to a conclusion.
Maintain and upgrade lab equipment and bench fixtures.
Participate in brainstorming efforts with algorithm engineering and product development teams.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering (biomedical preferred, MS preferred)
A minimum of 3 years of experience in systems or test engineering (in the medical device industry preferred)
Applied understanding of mechanical, electromechanical, SW, and systems design.
Experience with building, using, and improving benchtop/test equipment.
Experience with developing test methods preferred.
Experience in blood loop design for hemodynamics testing preferred.
Experience in animal studies with hemodynamic data collection preferred.
Experience with analysis of physiological signals (preferably in Matlab, some programming experience preferred)
Statistical analytical skills to draw conclusions from experiments and tests.
Ability to write clear technical documents.
Understanding of cardiac anatomy and physiology preferred.
