Job Description:
The Systems Engineer II (Application Packaging) will be responsible forcreating and maintaining both the thick install and virtual installapplication packages for COTS products, GOTS products, and FBI developedcustom applications used on the FBI enterprise environments. Currentlyutilized application packaging technologies include but are not limitedto Microsoft App-V Sequencer, Flexera AdminStudio, BigFix, and MicrosoftEndpoint Manager. The Application Packager (Packager) will be part of apackaging team to support application packaging for a Windows 11deployment as well as other commercial off the shelf products such asChrome, Microsoft Edge based on Chromium, Adobe products, and otheradd-ons.
Position requirements and duties of the Systems Engineer II (ApplicationPackaging):
Produce functional high-level best practice standards andcomplicated Microsoft Windows Installer Packages at an enterpriseproduction level.Apply specific desired settings using a variety of industry acceptedtools with frequent low-level custom scripting.Complete packages in a timely manner and is responsible for COTS,GOTS, and FBI developed custom applications using AdminStudio and/orInstallShield following an established process and workflow.Packaging will consist of building silent installation packages in aMSI/MST format and performing initial installation testing onWindows 11 or other Window Server 2019/2022 before handing off tothe client for user acceptance testing and eventual deploymentthrough Microsoft Endpoint Manager, BigFix, or Microsoft ACT packageshimming.Perform enterprise application discovery with experienced developersand inexperienced requestors to obtain requirements, settings, andpreferences.Deliver estimated package completion dates with regular activity,status, and progress reporting for electronic delivery.Prepare, build, update and maintain a repeatable clean initialvirtual machine base work environment from which to launch andinitiate packaging builds.Automate the work environment to include the configuration of toolswith necessary merge modules and additional specific company globalsettings.Create a high volume of conflict free, validated, advertised,rollback enabled, just in time, and error free restorable packagescertified for delivery through the system configuration managementserver.Create deployment packages for COTS, GOTS, and FBI developed customapplications in an enterprise environment.Package applications and software updates utilizing tools such asFlexera AdminStudio, InstallShield or tools such as App-V Sequencer.Develop, maintain, and deploy secure web browser packages using avariety of web browsers including Microsoft Edge based on Chromiumand Chrome in a Windows environment.Develop and follow procedures for testing applications prior todeployment.Document the customizations and changes made during the packagingprocess.Participate in the preparation of materials and oral presentationsfor customers and management.Serve in a leading role in meetings relating to specific technicalprojects or tasks.Continually transition knowledge on how to use the technology to theGovernment staff through training and assistance using industry bestpractices.Required Skills:
Must have a current Top-Secret Clearance with the capability ofobtaining SCI / CI-Poly if needed to meet contract requirement.
Extensive knowledge and experience using Flexera Admin tudio,Microsoft Endpoint Manager, BigFix, and InstallShield required.
Extensive scripting experience using CScript, WScript, VBScriptand/or PowerShell.
Extensive knowledge of Active Directory, Microsoft Registry, andability to query or modify settings.
Extensive skills with Windows Platforms and MDOP and MDT.
Knowledge of Power Shell and/or VB scripting essential.
6+ years of packaging experience.
