Department Summary:
MITRE’s Classified Enterprise Infrastructure is looking for a Intermediate Systems Administrator to support Bedford on site and in person. The Systems Administrator supports operations and maintenance (O&M) activities including hardware and software installation, configuration, and administration for multiple isolated labs as well as being the primary contact for user facing support. The ideal candidate will bring a broad range of experience in Windows and Linux environments and a passion for state-of-the-art technology. Candidate must be able to speak comfortably from a technical perspective with clients, our partners, and within the team.
Job Responsibilities:
Provide in person support to end-users by responding to requests for technical and administrative assistance.
Administer specialized information systems (e.g., VTCs, secure phone system.)
Coordinate processes for system certification & accreditation for classified systems.
Manage user identities, credentials, and privileges on local servers.
Configure systems in accordance with system security policy.
Support the ISSM by enabling auditing of classified systems to ensure continued compliance with JSIG and documented settings.
Contribute to developing IT support policies and procedures and processes for local site.
Make recommendations and decisions on IT infrastructure, and other areas related to IT support for the local site.
Collaborate with Information System Managers from the government sponsor program office to maintain secure system connectivity and compliance with all sponsor directed network administration policy
Maintain and upgrade tracking system for software and hardware including lifecycle and inventory.
Diagnose and resolve technical hardware and software issues.
Required Qualifications:
Possess a DoD Top Secret Clearance.
DoD 8570 IAT Level I-compliant certification (Security +)
2 + years of experience and responsibility in user-facing environments
Experience with Windows/RHEL client and server systems up to current versions.
Experience with Windows systems and user management via Active Directory and Group Policy and/or Linux system administration experience
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong written and verbal communications skills
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with scripting and automation tools, including batch scripts, PowerShell, automation with PDQ Inventory/Deploy, Ansible, Chef, or other similar tools.
Demonstrated ability to develop effective technical and support documentation to include design & test plans, implementation plans, automation plans, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) using standard templates (where existing) or proposing & creating new templates where needed.
Experience with system compliance and hardening using DISA STIGs and SCAP
Experience with VMware vCenter/vSphere, and VDI implementations using Citrix VDI
Experience with Linux scripting and automation tools including shell scripting, python/perl, Ansible, Chef, or other similar tools.
Ability to review operational metrics and make analytic decisions/recommendations about operational infrastructure performance.
Possess and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance.
