The Systems Administrator III is responsible for being a leader within administering and maintaining Maxim's IT infrastructure technologies, services and platforms. The Systems Administrator III works collaboratively with Systems Engineers to implement projects and acts as third tier support within the Enterprise Operations group to resolve production incidents, perform root cause analysis, and provide guidance to junior team members on technical matters related to their specializations. The Systems Administrator III will help drive technology standards and best practices across technology platforms within the Systems Operations team. This role contributes specialized knowledge across the breadth of services and can take on tasks outside of their area of specialization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Systems Administrator III should demonstrate a thorough understanding of fundamental concepts of a broad range of technologies and concepts listed below. This role should also able to act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in more than two of these areas:
Server and Storage hardware (Cisco, HP, NetApp, Pure Storage, NAS and SAN)
Microsoft Windows Server platforms and services (DNS, DHCP, PKI, PowerShell)
System Management (Microsoft Systems Center, SolarWinds, SCCM, DynaTrace)
Virtualization and Cloud (VMware, Citrix, Hyper-V, Azure)
Identity and Access Management (Active Directory, FIM/MIM, SSO/ADFS, Centrify)
Enterprise Backup and Disaster Recovery (Rubrik, Zerto)
Enterprise Messaging (Exchange, Symantec Enterprise Vault, Lync)
System Security (DLP, vulnerability assessment and remediation, Anti-Virus, Host-based Firewall)
Web Server platforms (IIS, Apache, SharePoint, F5 Load Balancers)
Acts as the principle administrator on several of the technologies that is managed by the IS Operations Team.
Maintains and secures the SharePoint platform to optimize performance.
Manages SharePoint user accounts, permissions and access rights in accordance with best practices regarding privacy and security.
Provides third-level technical support for Microsoft SharePoint platform including SharePoint administration services, site administration; configure SharePoint application services, workflow management, governance, and content management for optimal performance.
Shapes the strategy, architecture, methodology and standards for delivering SharePoint solutions.
Migrates existing custom solutions and templates to SharePoint 2019.
Demonstrates knowledge with automation tools (PowerShell, Azure Automation, Scorch, etc)
Creates PowerShell scripts to automate manual processes, perform data collection and provide insightful reports.
Mentors and guides junior team members on technical procedures as well as Maxim ITSM processes during daily operations.
Helps define Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and best practices for their specialized technologies.
Creates operational guides and share with peers on how to execute operational tasks.
Partners with engineering team on project work by helping to gather technical requirements and build a solution.
Creates Knowledge Base Articles (KBA's) and conducts training for junior team members
Monitors, investigates, and resolves events generated by the Enterprise System, Application, and Security Management tools, escalating issues to other teams as necessary.
Performs operational health checks and maintenance tasks on critical infrastructure services and business applications to ensure their availability.
Provide after-hours support for planned maintenance and incident resolution.
Adheres to Maxim's ITSM processes, e.g. Change Management, Incident Management, Problem Management, etc. and identifies opportunities for improvement.
Develops yearly goals and a professional development plan for themselves.
Performs other duties as assigned/necessary.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems or related field is preferred.
Eight to ten (8 – 10) years of relevant IT experience.
Minimum of 5 years of SharePoint administration, development, and deploying custom SharePoint solutions.
Experience with SharePoint Server 2013 or newer features, functionality and services on Intranets/Extranets
Hands on experience in several of the technical areas described above is required.
An accredited certification as Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCTIP)
Experience with implementing best practice SharePoint information architectures, workflows and mobile applications.
Experience with Microsoft SharePoint technologies MOSS 2010/2013, Windows SharePoint Services 3.0/4.0, SharePoint Designer, Portals and Web Part Development.
