About System Infection Prevention and Control Team Coordinator

  Job Summary

  Responsible for leading and maintaining the organizational strategic goals and objectives specifically those related to the system infection prevention and control.

  Job Duties

  Lead infection control project as directed

  Oversees data mining system for infection control program

  Coordinates and participates in the development and implementation of Infection Control programs at all campuses

  Supports operational responsibility for staffing plans to support the department including position descriptions, performance evaluations, action plans, employee goal setting, hiring, promotion and disciplinary actions.

  Manages assigned staff at campus for infection control system-wide program

  Participates in recruitment and retention of all professional and support staff.

  Identifies, recommends and implements changes to improve infection prevention and control practices and provides education to assure the effectiveness of the Infection Control Program.

  Recommends changes in patient care and recommends department specific education about infection control practices based on information collected or observed on rounds.

  Detects evidence of transmission of infectious diseases, investigates possible clusters of infections and institutes control measures as necessary.

  Coordinates implementation and education about the Infection Control Plan.

  Assists with implementation of system-wide infection control activities based on the Infection Control Plan; assures compliance with the requirements of Act 52 and Act 13.

  Identifies and records hospital acquired infections based on the review of appropriate laboratory data and medical records for surveillance and reporting purposes.

  Analyzes, records and prepares reports for the Infection Control Committee on the incidence of targeted infections.

  Understands and communicates regulatory body requirements which relate to Infection Control; actively participates in all surveys.

  Responsible for maintaining appropriate records of all Infection Control activities.

  Participates in surveillance activities to identify unusual epidemic situations, to evaluate the impact of new procedures or equipment and to evaluate how the infection prevention and control program impacts the delivery of patient care.

  System travel to Geisinger campuses

  Education

  Bachelor's Degree-Healthcare Related Degree (Required)

  Experience

  Minimum of 1 year-Managerial/Supervisory (Required), Minimum of 5 years-Clinical (Required)

  Certification(s) and License(s)

  Infection Control Certification - Default Issuing Body
