The Watts Internship Program is strategically designed to allow you to utilize what you have learned in the classroom while gaining a true understanding of the business world by applying those key principles through hands-on experience. During the internship, students will gain exposure to and impact operations. There will be many chances to network with like-minded manufacturing, industrial engineering, and beyond professionals to stimulate your mind through cross-departmental collaboration .
The Sustaining Engineering Intern will contribute to developing engineering solutions that support manufacturability, safety, quality, and a rapidly evolving market demand. You have strong organizational skills, technical skills, and interest in manufacturing processes and will provide hands on support with CAD design, engineering documentation control, and providing proactive RCA and corrective actions on the factory floor as needed.
You Will:
Supports manufacturing of commercial water heater and boiler products; supported areas include interfacing with production assembly processes and employees as well as utilizing the standard ECN process to control Bills of Materials and Engineering Drawings
Validates engineering solutions using CAD modeling, simulation, and hands-on testing
Improves internal processes by contributing to the organization and standardization of the Engineering Documentation database
Delivering a comprehensive technical presentation detailing key projects completed during the internship and the resulting impact analysis
EDUCATION:
Candidates must be a current student pursuing a bachelor's or master's in engineering. Manufacturing, mechanical, or industrial preferred.
Must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Must be authorized to work in the U.S., and not require sponsorship now or in the future
Ability to apply principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, heat transfer, and materials science to engineering solutions
A propensity for problem-solving and continuous improvement
Good interpersonal skills and a team mindset to work towards shared goals
Highly developed soft skills including decision making and oral, written, and presentational communications
Proficiency with personal computers and Microsoft Office software
Numerical analysis skills and proficiency with 3D CAD is a plus

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties, the employee will be working in an office environment with exposure to the plant floor as well as the Engineering Test Facility. The employee is required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to handle objects and other tools. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The Employee may be required to lift up to 20 pounds.
