Those in this role must have and use excellent judgement, work independently, use discretion, possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills, take initiative, work with minimal supervision, manage many projects simultaneously and think critically with an attention to detail. The person in this role may be called upon to assist the department with special projects as needed and this position may need to staff events taking place during evening and/or weekend hours periodically. This position will report to the Director of Advancement Services. As a member of the Institutional Advancement team, it is expected that those serving in this position will contribute to a constructive work environment through a positive attitude, civility, collaboration with other team members, and a respectful approach towards working relationships. The salary range for this position is $55,000-$61,000 depending on qualifications. JOB DESCRIPTION: Development Officer Support: 70% Partner with Development Officers to advance alumni and prospects through the gift continuum, from discovery through stewardship. Analyze Development Officer portfolios to ensure follow through on donor strategies and assist in advancing relationships with benefactors and alumni, including developing fundraising recommendations. Take an ownership stake in the annual fundraising goals and metrics of Development Officers and the Institutional Advancement team. Forecast Development Officer needs through active monitoring and awareness of their schedules, projects, and prospect relationships and participate in developing donor strategies. Manage timely, effective, and professional communication with internal and external stakeholders, including students, faculty, staff, alumni and benefactors, as needed to aid Development Officers to advance their relationships with prospects. Oversee and coordinate requests for assistance or information by prospects and benefactors to ensure positive touchpoints. Provide administrative support to Development Officers, including preparation, editing and review of documents, calendar management, and other support duties as needed. Develop and maintain expert user knowledge of the Donor Management System (DMS). Develop reports on donors by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing relevant information on the backgrounds of donors and prospects. Manage the reporting and submittal of gifts through DMS with the University of Minnesota Foundation and manage the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) process for Institutional Advancement in coordination with the Director of Benefactor Relations. Manage, in collaboration with the Director of Benefactor Relations, production and delivery of stewardship communications including acknowledgement letters and stewardship reports. Departmental Support and External Communications: 30% Manage queries for alumni and donor data for all business units of the Carlson School, including producing email and mailing lists for electronic and print communications Develop, manage, and provide strategic insights into Institutional Advancement's email plans and alumni- and donor-focused emails generated from Carlson School business units, utilizing email marketing software Partner with Institutional Advancement team members to plan, produce and implement alumni and donor communications and marketing outreach Track, plan, manage and execute electronic communications to maximize impact with intended donor and alumni audiences to drive philanthropic giving and engagement Strategize on Institutional Advancement website design and content and execute improvements and updates Drive change and innovative techniques, in collaboration with t e Associate Director of Advancement Communications, to improve email communications and performance Collaborate and work with all members of the Institutional Advancement team and support the administration, day-to-day operation, and organization of the department Lead logistical support for meetings and events * The employer reserves the right to change or assign other duties to this position * Qualifications *MINIMUM / ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree Two years of relevant experience Excellent writing and oral communication skills Strong organizational abilities; a high degree of energy, creativity, and initiative. Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines. Ability to communicate professionally with a variety of constituents, including: alumni, benefactors, corporate executives and board members. Strong sense of professionalism and ability to interact with top-level executives and administrators. Demonstrated experience in providing quality customer service to diverse constituents. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in a team environment. Must be available to periodically work outside of typical work hours to support early morning, evening and weekend meetings or events. Ability and interest to quickly learn the Carlson School mission, demographics, faculty, current programs and culture. Working knowledge of computer software, including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, and email and Internet applications. *PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / SELECTION CRITERIA: Background in advancement, with a preference towards higher education advancement. Experience working with web-based content management systems and graphic design software (Adobe InDesign, Canva, etc.). Experience with utilizing a donor management or CRM tracking system. Experience working with Salesforce Marketing Cloud and executing email communications and solicitations.
