JOB SUMMARY (overview of job): Assists surgeon during operative and invasive procedures. Ensures operating suite is adequately prepared for procedure. Monitor PAR level of all surgical instruments and supplies. Cleans and sterilizes all surgical instruments. Handles medications under the supervision of the surgeon or nurse. Participates in departmental staff meetings and performance improvement activities.

　　KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE: Minimum of three years of experience as operating room technician or certification in OR technology. Ability to function independently as operating room scrub in all surgical specialties.

　　EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED preferred. Graduation from a surgical tech two-year program preferred.

　　LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY: Current BCLS Certification is required.

　　Aptitudes: Ability to achieve cognitive, organization and emotional maturity to deal effectively with multiple tasks, stresses, deadlines, difficult situations and/or customers. Possesses interpersonal/communication skills necessary for effective, non-judgmental, and empathetic patient care and customer relations.
