Supply Chain and LogisticsInternship - with a focus on Transportation This summer supply chaininternship is a great opportunity for the candidate to gain real worldexperience moving freight. You will communicate and resolve everydayissues dealing with motor carriers, customers, and vendors. The internwill interact with other areas of the company including customer care,procurement, and project management. The primary responsibility of thisposition is to manage summer shipping volume for School Specialty. Youwill be a point of contact on transportation related subjects that allowfor quick identification of issues and resolving those issues to meetcustomer expectations. This position is based out of our Greenville, WIoffice, with an base of \$16-\$18/per hour, depending on skill level.Hours are M-F 8am-4:30pm, starting May 2024 ending in August 2024. Weare flexible and can accommodate reduced hours/shifts. Summary ofPrimary Responsibilities Coordinate shipments from vendors to customers,vendors to fulfillment centers and fulfillment centers to customers Workwith contracted carriers and internal customers coordinating dispositionon shipments Learn freight claims process, help internal customers withclaims disposition and file claims timely Use critical thinking skillsto evaluate transportation options that meet customer requirements whilekeeping costs down Effectively communicate with all areas of company,including customer care, accounts payable, sales, and procurementProactively manage shipments from pick up to delivery Troubleshoottransportation problems and resolve to completion Communicate accurateshipment specifications to carriers correct tucking services areprovided to meet customer delivery expectations. Learn TMS and operatewithin system to perform daily responsibilities Manage TMS reports tokeep system up to day with accurate information. Troubleshoot andresolve TMS report issues Assist others in transportation team withother duties when situation arises Minimum Experience RequirementsCurrent student at university or technical college studying SupplyChain, Logistics, or Transportation Preferred Knowledge and SkillsProficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook.
