The Office ofMental Health and Suicide Prevention (OMHSP) in the Veterans HealthAdministration (VHA) is responsible for providing strategic guidance forimproving the quality of mental health care for over one and a halfmillion Veterans nation-wide. Services are provided for a broad range ofmental illnesses and substance use disorders, with particular emphasison full, effective implementation of mental health care and suicideprevention services as outlined in the Uniform Mental Health ServicesHandbook (Directive 1160.01) and its replacement and other policies,related programmatic guidance, as well as other mental health andsuicide prevention initiatives that develop over time. The positionserves as a first level supervisor of the Lead Social ServicesAssistants (LSSAs) and Social Services Assistants (SSAs) in VCLperforming functions and activities involving the linking of emergencyservices to Customers in suicidal or homicidal crises. The incumbentparticipates in planning, development, and implementation of programoperations. The incumbent is under the supervision of the SupervisorySocial Services Assistant - Team Operations Coordinator (TOC).Majorduties include but are not limited to: Reviews work done by subordinatesConducts performance evaluations Counsels employees on behavioral issuesMakes the determination of when to forward cases to the SupervisoryHealth Science Specialist for clinical follow up Enforces adherence torules and regulations Ensures agency policies, procedures, and practicesare in compliance with federal, state and VA agency standards andguidelines Communicates changes to staff in regards to policy andprocedure updates, Veterans Crisis Line changes, and info as neededProposes and recommends process improvements for Veterans Crisis LineSocial Services Assistant and Lead Social Services AssistantsInvestigates and responds to Veterans and community complaints andinquires Provides back up consultation for staff in emergency situationsRepresents the Social Services program during meetings with internal andexternal stakeholders Conducts and directs the review and evaluation oftime and attendance reports, staffing allocations Monitors andmaintenance of floor supplies, and proposes requests to leadership forprocurement of these items as needed Serves as the subject matter expertfor...
