Summary About the Position: Serves as Librarian in the Ike Skelton Combined Arms Research Library (CARL), a world class research facility for the study of military art and science at the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College (CGSC) and Army University (ArmyU). CARL also provides educational and recreational resources to the Fort Leavenworth community. Responsibilities As a Supervisory Librarian, you will perform the following duties which is not an all-inclusive list: Oversee day-to-day operation, maintenance and data integrity of core library systems that include the Integrated Library System (ILS) and associated resource discovery system. Act as CARL primary point of contact in utilizing a variety of technologies to provide the best possible experience for library patrons and staff. Coordinate implementation of new systems and products, as well as enhancements to current CARL systems. Oversee and manage collection development, acquisition, cataloging, and processing of materials for CARL. As the Chief, Technical Services, coordinates the activities of professional level librarians and library technicians. To qualify on this basis, the applicant must establish conclusively that the education, training, and experience provided a knowledge and understanding of the theories, principles, and techniques of professional librarianship; a knowledge of literature resources; and the knowledge and abilities essential for providing effective library and information services. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: Work which includes experience assisting in the development of library policies and procedures; Identifying and/or analyzing potential technology solutions to improve library services; Selecting, procuring, or cataloging of library materials in various formats.
