Summary This position is located in Fraud Detection and National Security Directorate, HQFDNS Front Office, National Security and Public Safety. As an SUPERVISORY IMMIGRATION OFFICER (BRANCH CHIEF), you will safeguard the integrity of the nation's lawful immigration system by leading agency efforts to combat fraud, detect national security and public safety threats, and maximize law enforcement and Intelligence Community partnerships. Responsibilities Oversee and collaborate with other USCIS Directorates, government agencies, and law enforcement entities on the development and implementation of screening and national security related policies and guidance. Ensure that USCIS Offices are properly informed of FDNS policies, procedures, and guidance relating to fraud, public safety, and national security initiatives. Implement changes to improve program effectiveness. Provide briefings to officials and external entities on the current status of FDNS and/or national security and public safety and vetting initiatives. Develop an agency-wide approach for screening and vetting information against national security and public safety information. Perform administrative and human resource management functions, develop work improvement plans, provide advice and counsel to personnel, and provide periodic evaluations of employee performance. You must have experience performing the following duties: Oversee and direct the development of agency-wide anti-fraud and/or national security policies, laws, regulations and operating procedures; Oversee and direct the development of overarching screening framework and intelligence activities including the development of screening policy priorities, goals, and objectives of a broad scope involving significant, complex, or precedent-setting issues; Manage and provide technical and administrative supervision to a staff of supervisors or leaders engaged in anti-fraud or national security programs as they relate to administering the Immigration and Nationality Act (e.g., Adjudications, Inspections, Investigations, and Border Protection); Brief senior officials and congressional offices on the current status of initiatives related to immigration programs; Liaise with high level law enforcement and national security representatives. Education EDUCATIONAL SUBSTITUTION: There is no educational substitution at this grade level. The Fraud Detection and National Security Directorate (FDNS) was established within USCIS to strengthen national security and the integrity of the country's legal immigration system by closely aligning the adjudication of immigration benefits and services with the identification of potential threats to national security and/or public safety, the detection and deterrence of fraud, and the use of law enforcement and intelligence information to ensure optimal security for U.S. communities. FDNS systematically identifies updates, and records indicators of fraudulent activities; manages fraud cases; identifies vulnerabilities and other weaknesses that compromise the integrity of the legal immigration system; and coordinates and provides logistical support in law enforcement and national security matters. FDNS is the primary conduit for information sharing and collaboration with law enforcement and intelligence agencies. Training: If you have not already done so, you will be required to attend the residential, paid FDNS Officer Basic Training course. Additionally, if you have not already done so, you will be required to attend the residential, paid USCIS BASIC Officer training program, lasting six weeks, at a USCIS training facility. Both trainings must be successfully completed according to the standards of the agency. Failure to do so will be grounds for mandatory removal from the position.
