The Supervisor, Development Science for Beckman Coulter is responsible for leading and developing a team of R&D Scientists responsible for assay development for new product development, sustainment, and improvement initiatives to support our immunoassays product portfolio. You will supervise daily activities, set priorities for the team to ensure task completion, and coordinate work activities through collaboration with technical experts, management team and project leads. You will be responsible for ensuring all company polies and procedures, FDA, ISO, GLP and related requirements are consistently met. The position is part of the Immunoassay Reagent Development Department located in Chaska (Minneapolis), MN and will be on-site. At Beckman Coulter, our vision is to relentlessly reimagine healthcare, one diagnosis at a time.
You will be a part of the Immunoassay Reagent Development Team and report to the Manager of Development Science and will be responsible for providing technical guidance and leadership to a team of Scientists at various levels while also contributing to daily activities. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
Contribute to new product designs, processes, new product scale-up, design/product optimization, technology transfer, process/product verification and validation activities.
Provide technical leadership within the department, including training other scientists.
Independently design, execute, and analyze simple to moderately complex experimental work, present conclusions.
Lead projects or department initiatives and communicate project status, escalate issues to management, users, and staff.
Sustain lab productivity and compliance to meet department and corporate objectives.
Provide staff supervision and daily activities and staff projects to ensure success while building talent within group.
The essential requirements of the job include:
High School Degree with 8+ years experience OR Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences (Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or Medical related Sciences) and 5+ years of experience OR Master’s degree with 3+ years of experience.
Previous leadership experience (laboratory, people, or project management).
Candidates must have considerable knowledge of good laboratory practices and scientific methods.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
IVD assay development.
Demonstrated ability to work well in a team setting and able to interact effectively at all levels and across different cultures.
