Responsibilities
The Admissions Supervisor works in collaboration with management, staff, and physician office personnel to support the philosophy, objectives and goals of SCA. This position creates and maintains positive relationships between the surgery center, physician offices, and patients by ensuring these customers receive the highest standards of service in regards their admission process. This position provides leadership support to the centers including, but not limited to, registration, scheduling, pre/post follow up patient calls, ensures effective admitting process and conducts operational improvement special projects as assigned. The supervisor’s daily duties include directing the admission, discharge, and general flow of patients into the pre-operative area room and assigning appropriate staff to each patient bay.
Facility & Client Relationships:
Communicating the patient’s status throughout the pre-anesthesia continuum of care. - Protecting the patient from injury caused by extraneous objects and chemical, electrical, mechanical, and thermal sources. - Demonstrating safe operation of equipment and machinery and following procedures for reporting and correcting an unsafe situation. - Speaking up about safety concerns acting as the patient’s advocate. - Handling specimens according to facility policy and procedures. Support staff and physician in providing pre-operative care to the patient - Confirms preoperative testing/medical clearance is in patient’s medical chart prior to procedure - Collaborates with RN in assessing the patient’s physical and emotional status - Implements and documents preoperative regimen of care according to policy/procedure - Recognizes patient’s need for support, answers questions appropriately, and provides for privacy and confidentiality - Assists in the admission of patients to pre-operative area according to established guidelines - Implements appropriate nursing activities to provide safe and individualized nursing care - Evaluates effectiveness of nursing care by documenting patient’s responses to interventions - Conveys ideas, concepts, and facts related to patient care in a logical, concise manner - Documents records and other forms accurately and according to policies and procedures - Applies technical and specialized skills relevant to pre-operative nursing -- Observes safety measures in patient-care activities - Comply with HIPAA privacy requirements.
Qualifications
Associates degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school in Health Care Administration, Health Information Management, or Industrial and Organizational Development which integrates process redesign with strategic/operational objectives is preferred but is not required. - One to two years Admissions/Business Office experience preferably in a medical office, hospital, surgery center or related field
