JOB REQUIREMENTS: The Aldo Leopold Nature Center (ALNC) is seekingadaptable, creative, and engaging environmental education interns toassist our summer camp programs from June through August. ALNC is anon-profit educational organization guided by Aldo Leopold\'s landethic, with a mission to engage and educate current and futuregenerations, empowering them to respect, protect, and enjoy the naturalworld. ALNC serves more than 50,000 children, teachers, members, andfamilies annually through year-round programming that includes fieldtrips, camps, a nature preschool, and public and private events. TIME COMMITMENT AND SCHEDULE This positionincludes one week of staff training (June 3-7) and eleven weeks ofsummer camp (June 10-August 23). Interns should be availableMonday-Friday from 9am-5pm for staff training and 11am-5:30pm for therest of the summer except for select weeks in August which require an8am-4pm schedule. On a typical day, interns will cover educator lunchbreaks (11:15am-12:45pm), lead camp activities (12:45 pm-3:30 pm), andsupervise aftercare (3:30-5:30pm). In August, each intern will teach atleast one full week of camp. RESPONSIBILITIES Summer environmentaleducation interns assist education staff in coordinating, preparing, andteaching experiential nature programs for 4-10 year old campers. Primaryduties include: -Develop skills in activity development, programimplementation, and behavior management. -Independently supervisecampers during educator lunch and planning breaks. -Facilitate aftercarewith other interns. -By August, have the ability and confidence to planand lead a full week of camp. -Collaborate with other staff and helpcreate a cohesive camp community. -Maintain a reliable attendance recordthroughout the summer. ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:-At least 18 years of age. -Vaccinated against COVID-19. -Certified inFirst Aid/CPR (training will be provided for those who need it). -Mustpass a child care background check and fingerprint screen. -Priorexperience working with children is preferred. -History of commitment,reliability, and flexibility in other positions. -Knowledge of and/orinterest in Wisconsin natural history is a plus. -Ability to maintainsight and sound supervision of campers at all times. -Ability to workoutside in all summer weather conditions. -Positive and open attitude.***** APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS: Other: Email cover letter, resume,and three references to Lauren Mordini, Summer Camp Manager, [email protected].
