Overview
The Studio Production Engineer at Cook Medical will operate, manage, and support Studio and Master Control operations as well as direct technical personnel on larger productions. Provide reliable and accurate switching/technical direction for live and recorded video productions. Provide ongoing support, maintenance and on-the-spot troubleshooting of production equipment, and lead engineering project management for a state-of-the-art production facility. Proactively build relationships with stakeholders to facilitate creative and efficient operations, as well as promote and enhance the capabilities of the studio.
Responsibilities
Execute the output of live or recorded programs to match the look and feel of company brandMust possess capability to supervise and/or independently set up and operate control room and studio to facilitate productionsControl video switchers and supporting equipment and software (including Livestream Studio, Resolume Arena, Blackmagic, and Rogue Media Servers) in real timeCalmly and accurately operate robotic and studio cameras, graphics, audio mixer, lighting, and computersMaintain production equipment to ensure proper functionality for the day's productionWork closely with clients on set to ensure their needs are met and offer creative solutionsDetermine what equipment and capability is needed to execute a given productionWork with Studio Project Manager to assign crew and/or procurement of any necessary equipmentWork with studio personnel to track live and recorded productions and maintain a realistic production calendarRecognized both within and outside the organization as a thought leaderRecommend operational strategies and plans with direct impact on resultsInfluence business decisions made by leadership
Communicate with senior leadership on matters of strategic importanceRecommend operational plans and strategies that will directly impact the achievement of resultsEstablish operational plans with short-to mid-term impact on resultsResponsible for providing guidance, coaching and training to other employees across the CompanyDocument quality standards, system anomalies, operational procedures, and reference materialsResearch, test and validate new options for production operational support. Develop recommendations and conclusions from information gathered, and present findings and recommendations to leadership teamOversee installation, maintenance, and repair of studio systems at local or remote sitesParticipate in studio technology design or redesign projectsSupport of Global Live Events i.e. Trade Shows and Conferences - including travel, equipment setup and operationCollaborate and design of similar studios and multipurpose rooms for Cook facilities globally
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Video/Film Production or related field, or experience in lieu of10 years' experience in the corporate or broadcast television production industry coupled with strong technical aptitude.Experience with live and recorded studio production is required; Samples that demonstrate technical work for major clients are preferredCrew supervision experienceBudgeting for multiple projects and events in multiple global currenciesCommand of modern digital video production, equipment, and processes; Proficiency with various video hardware, switchers and routers including IP based video and audioUnderstand basic editing and post-production concepts
Candidate must be a self-starter and a team player. Must have strong communications skills, be well organized and capable of handling multiple assignments. A strong sense of urgency in solving customer requests to ensure timely resolution is critical. Ability to deliver precise instructions and work effectively in a fast-paced environmentAdvanced engineering and equipment troubleshooting skillsKnowledge of IT and digital video, including compression, conversion, streaming and codesCustomer service orientation; Professional presence and superior client relationship skillsWork effectively with executive leadership and production colleagues in a corporate environmentAbility to switch from one project to another quickly and effectively; ability to quickly prioritize and reorganize events, projects, and resourcesShould feel comfortable working with staging, facility operations and safety protocols.Possess the technical knowledge and collaborative and problem-solving skills necessary to translate abstract concepts into effective deliverables
Physical Requirements:
Works under general office environmental conditionsRequires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipmentOccasional travel, domestic and international, may be required
