The Student Activities Coordinator is an integral part of the university's mission to attract and engage the best scholars from around the world and foster a diverse community so that international students can be supported and enriched.
Reporting to the Associate Director for Operations and Outreach as well as the Coordinator of Programming, Events, and Activities, this position is not just limited to the office's operations, it entails vast opportunities to work with academic affairs and other Student Experience departments collaboratively in creating an environment to cultivate the sense of belonging and inclusivity of international students. Main job functions include:
Partner with coordinators and other staff of the Intercultural Engagement team in support of programs and events for the Disability Cultural Center, LGBTQ Resource Center, Kessler Scholars Program, and Multicultural Affairs.
Provide coverage with IC reception desk as needed.
Represent IC at university-wide opportunities (e.g., admissions events, family weekend, orientation).
Work in collaboration with Syracuse University advancement to highlight program success.
Actively participate in SE meetings, events, and committees.
Managing our department social media accounts, bi-weekly newsletter, and general communication with our constituents as well as assist with all programs and activities at the center in collaboration with the Coordinator of Events & Activities.
Design and planning of programs conducted afterhours and on weekends as well as the design and publication of all printed and digital flyers, and announcements for our events.
Management of all website content and updates related to office programs and events.
Working collaboratively with others in the office and other campus partners to develop, implement and maintain integrated online pre-orientation presentation videos and online events.
Oversee all aspects of student support offered to students flagged in Orange Success and specifically for students with grades of NA (Not Attending) as it is essential to confer with these students for immigration compliance.
