This is an essential position that serves as Treatment Team Director and is responsible for the psychiatric care of all patients in an assigned unit. 　　DESCRIPTION OF WORKAs a Staff Psychiatrist, you are responsible for providing a thorough workup of all patients under your care. This includes performing detailed psychiatric examinations and making appropriate diagnosis in keeping with the current edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of the American Psychiatric Association.

　　Additional duties include performing daily rounds, attending and conducting Team meetings, attending and participating in assigned hospital committee meetings, responding and assuming a leadership role during psychiatric emergencies, and responding to medical emergencies. In addition, you prescribe the indicated treatment orders and interpret consultations, laboratory, and other findings. With the responsibility for the overall treatment of patients, you have full authority to make medication selection appropriate for treatment.
